The Clock
04:40
|

Is there someone on the other line?
and is it too late to turn your water to wine?
We'll watch the angles of light
become reborn in the night, just to slow down
While some believe what they're told
Others will fear that they're old and fading
Nomatter when, no matter how, no matter where your soul might take you
With each and every passing day inside a city that's trying to break you
You know you're one, two, and maybe even three chances too late
And always in the dark and running late
Because you can't turn back the clock nomatter how hard you try
Because you can't turn back the clock without wondering why
Some will break and some will bend
And others run and others hide
But you can't turn back the clock no matter how hard you cry
Around the corner where all dead flowers are born the air is so sweet oh and the suns always warm, it puts a taste in your mouth and a chip on your shoulder real quick
While some believe what they're told others fight tooth and nail until sick
Nomatter when, no matter how, no matter where your soul might take you
With each and every passing day inside a city that's trying to break you
You know you're one, two, and maybe even three chances too late
In times of love and war some celebrate
Because you can't turn back the clock nomatter how hard you try
Because you can't turn back the clock without wondering why
Some will break and some will bend
And others run and others hide
But you can't turn back the clock no matter how hard you cry
{face melting guitar solo}
Nomatter when, no matter how, no matter where your soul might take you
With each and every passing day inside a city that's trying to break you
-
Some will break and some will bend
And others run and others hide
But you can't turn back the clock no matter how hard you cry

Without

Buried in letters that don't mean much I'm burning alive in the tunnel of love. You're further away than you've ever been and that's alright, it's just another highway
Just one year older but there's two years gone still, plenty of time for falling apart, will we look back on these days and wonder, well what if we acted younger?
And will time stop the same, without you burn away without you, feel the same without you
And will time stop the same, without you burn away without you, be the same without you
And if your brain feels like it's gonna explode and if your heart feels broke because its not on the road, it's time to go
And if you're not quite scared as you once were before just take a quick look outside a window or door, and you'll be scared and you'll be there, oh yeah
maybe I couldn't see the way
And will time stop the same, without you burn away without you, feel the same without you
And will time stop the same, without you burn away without you, be the same without you
maybe I couldn't see the way it changed me
And will time stop the same, without you burn away without you, feel the same without you
And will time stop the same, without you burn away without you, be the same without you

Bad Luck
04:11
|
|||
My baby doesn't like it when I come home late or stay up all night
I'm never gonna get it right
And when the walls start to bleed
The wishing well will not be free
And if you're lost in a maze or paralyzed in a way
Where no one can hear your loud screams
Far past the point of return
Nobody's business or concern
And if you're crying for help then you're not acting yourself
And then that's part of the problem
And if it were bad luck to be honest we should have been scared to death by now
Wether or not we belong above ground I will always have my doubts
And if each sunset was a monument to an ending that had begun
You know we'd walk towards every one, tongue tied by everything we've done
Because my baby doesn't like it when I come home late or stay up all night
I'm never gonna get it right
And if the shadows seem to stop
And if the jawlines seem to drop
And then you can't find your way or make a plan of escape
Sounds like you're stuck in a bad dream
Too old and tired to learn
Most of the bridges and roads burned
Without a thing left to lose, without a thing left to prove
You sold your soul to feel normal
And if it were bad luck to be sorry we should have been scared to death by now
Wether or not we lost each argument we found out we were proud
And if each broken dish was a new sign of an ending that had begun
You know we'd limp towards every one knowing the good old days were done
Because my baby doesn't like it when I come home late or stay up all night
I'm never gonna get it right
Hiding behind a false sense of control
Waiting for someone to welcome you home
And if it were bad luck to be broken the point would probably not matter much
Wether or not we belong in this house we'll still try to keep in touch
And if each bad weekend was a new sign of an ending that had begun
You know we'd walk, you know we'd limp, you know we'd crawl towards every one

Turn to Stone
03:44
|
|||
I don't participate in culture cus I'm too bored to understand
Or stay focused for long enough for a search and rescue plan
I'm always crying wolf while buried alive in a grave I dug myself
Or talking my way out of growing up and getting help
I'm gonna run away, I'm gonna break the same, don't make me wait until I'm black and blue
I'm gonna run away, I'm gonna break the same, don't make me wait too long cus I turn to stone for you
You're sixty percent though your fifties but your forties weren't so bad
You spent your thirties complaining about your twenties being sad
Oh and your teenage years, well those were the worst, but if you had to pinpoint it, your first couple years on this earth were where it really went to shit
I'm gonna run away, I'm gonna break the same, don't make me wait until I'm black and blue
I'm gonna run away, I'm gonna break the same, don't make me wait too long cus I turn to stone for you
nomatter when the crossroads come and no matter where the beaten path might go, I tend to be a touch or two, early or late, to be grasping for control
I'm gonna die trying too hard to cut my teeth on the hands that feed
gonna slowly but surely run out of blood and dignity
I turn to stone with the glow of the television when it's on
and ride the waves of the radio with the extinct, dead, and gone
And after all the longest hours have come and gone and come and past
All the longest hours were for nothin'
I'm gonna run away, I'm gonna break the same, don't make me wait until I'm black and blue

The Bottom
02:53
|
|||
Remembered wrong, forgotten last
A sight to see from nowhere fast
Never quite knew but never asked
Dark clouds are due but then will pass
Don't salt the Earth and plan to stay
Or follow the light and pray for rain
Some say some things will stay the same
Some say some things will never change
And if it hasn't gone up in smoke while time has been standing still
And if it hasn't been a bottom dollar bet well then it probably will
And if the hours seem to pass on like with a mind of their own
You'll have to promise not to look back on them yet because you'll be scared to the bone
The train of thought cannot be steered
Please never fear the end if near
Followed the script to yesteryear
The glory days had disappeared
Some cannot win without a war
Most dream of less but never more
If just for once your thoughts were yours
While wide awake they'd probably roar
Some would rather live trying too hard to look like they're not trying at all
It doesn't really matter too much right now
